Dorien Tulp

Charge Nurse - Level 1

"Level One is a dynamic ward with a wide range of clinical specialties and a highly motivated, supportive team. Our patients range from the very young to the elderly from all walks of life. If you like a fast-paced work environment with lots of variety, Level One is ideal for you. Please feel free to ask me more about our clinical work and the ward or come & visit."

The Level One team cares for patients undergoing elective orthopaedic, ENT, plastic and neuro-surgery.

We are on the ground floor of the hospital and split into East and West ends.

There are 14 private rooms with ensuite bathrooms in the East end. Common surgeries for the patients admitted here include cervical and lumbar spinal fusions, joint replacements, sinus surgery and a range of cosmetic procedures.

The West end is a busy day and short stay facility with garden views. There are 15 beds and a lounge with five recliners for patients undergoing minor orthopaedic, ENT, gynaecological and plastic surgical procedures such as arthroscopy, liposuction, tonsillectomy and laparoscopic gynaecological procedures.

Paediatric procedures include insertion of grommets, adenoidectomies and tonsillectomies, and we welcome and include families in the care of their children.

Staffing: Shifts are rostered and rotating across mornings and afternoons. Wakefield Hospital’s permanent night team covers Level 1.
