Matthew Blythe

Team Leader, Anaesthetic Technicians

There are eight of us in the team, two of whom are trainees. Assignment is one tech per theatre, and as we cover all specialties, there’s variety and exposure to all the skills that will be required. Shifts are worked between 0630 to 2030. We are rostered for on call to cover after hours acutes or return to theatre.

All registered technicians are required to be members of the New Zealand Anaesthetic Technician Society. Our team at Wakefield was the first in New Zealand to implement a professional development and recognition programme for Anaesthetic Technicians.
