Dr Dennett trained in general surgery in Invercargill, Dunedin and Auckland. After completing her general surgery training she undertook post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand in Melbourne and Sydney.
She is a fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
About Elizabeth Dennett
Dr Dennett works as a specialist colorectal surgeon at both Wellington and Wakefield Hospitals.
In addition to her clinical practice she is a senior lecturer in surgery at Otago University, the past chair of the RACS NZ Regional Training Board for General Surgery and current chair of the Board in General Surgery RACS and a College examiner in general surgery.
She is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and NZ; Section of Colorectal Surgery, RACS; International Anal Neoplasia Society; NZ Association of General Surgeons; and NZ Medical Association. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Management.
She was the first New Zealand female general surgeon appointed to the court of examiners Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
