Intensive and Coronary care

Wakefield has five Intensive Care beds in a unit capable of providing intensive monitoring and treatment for post operative patients following mainly, but not limited to, cardiac, vascular, hepatic and neurosurgical procedures.

Situated within the Cardiothoracic Ward are a number of Coronary Care beds. Coronary care is staffed by our specialist Cardiologists who provide 24 hour cover, and who undertake to see patients within 15 minutes of admission to Coronary Care and at least daily thereafter.

Specialised nurses staff these two areas and we provide continuity and ongoing education for them so that we can be sure to deliver the best standard of care possible for patients.

Resident Medical Officers provide the hospital with 24 hour cover.
