Gastroenterology and G.I Surgery
Wakefield provides a comprehensive Gastroenterology service for patients with gastrointestinal diseases.
The specialists have ready access to modern diagnostic and treatment facilities in the Wakefield Endoscopy Unit and Wakefield Radiology, and have regular operating sessions in Wakefield's modern theatre suite.
The Wakefield Gastroenterology Centre was established in 1991 to bring together medical and surgical specialists taking care of patients with problems related to the Gastrointestinal Tract e.g. stomach, liver, large bowel, gallbladder.
There are four specialists complimented by junior medical staff working within the Centre on a
regular basis, with a number of additional specialists working out of the Wakefield Specialist
Medical Centre.
